• Over time, excessive alcohol use can lead to the development of chronic diseases, neurological impairments and social problems. These include but are not limited to: Gastrointestinal problems, including pancreatitis and gastritis.
• Individuals who are more muscular are less affected by alcohol because the muscle contains a higher amount of water that absorbs the alcohol from the bloodstream.
• A study that was recently conducted by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), reported that individuals that drank alcohol after a meal that included fat, protein, and carbohydrates absorbed the alcohol at a rate that was three times slower than if they consumed alcohol on an empty stomach.
